style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Life on earth has been shaped by several major evolutionary transitions each of which has involved independent replicating units joining together to form a new, more complex life form. For example, transitions to multicellularity, sexual reproduction, group living (societies) and symbiotic existence have all played fundamental roles in the development of life.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Our research focuses on investigating <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">(1) Why do transitions occur?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">(2) How complex life is maintained?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">(3) What role do transformations in organismal design play in transitions?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">(4) Why do complex systems break down?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">This involves a number of more specific projects, <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:10014\/research\/\">click here for more details.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">We are based at Lund University, Sweden.
